Strawberry Balsamic Salad with Candied Pecans and Goat Cheese {Katie at the Kitchen Door}

N.E.E.T. Magazine Feature // Strawberry-Balsamic Salad with Candied Pecans and Goat Cheese

March 1, 2013 by katieatthekitchendoor

Happy Friday everyone! This week was long, but it’s ending on a high note – the release of the spring edition of N.E.E.T. magazine, in which I’m thrilled to have a feature! N.E.E.T. is primarily a fashion magazine, but the back of each issue contains a “N.E.E.T. eats” section (this one starts on page 141). This issue’s theme is spring salads, so I’ve contributed a light and sweet strawberry-balsamic salad, topped with sugary candied pecans and creamy goat cheese. Even though […]

Monday Morning Resolutions: Roasted Broccoli and Kale Caesar Salad

November 26, 2012 by katieatthekitchendoor

I didn’t do very well at my resolution last week. The resolution was to do 10 minutes of strength training/stretching every day, and, well, when you find yourself still needing to do that after 4 glasses of wine, let’s just say I went heavy on the stretching part. And also I counted the starfish stretch as stretching. But it’s a new week, so I’m trying again! And since these next 5 weeks are (hopefully) going to be full of cookies […]

Greatist Collaboration: Raw Kale and Pecorino Salad

September 26, 2012 by katieatthekitchendoor

I don’t want to scare anyone off… but it’s getting to be kale season.  I got some in my CSA last week, and it’s one of the few veggies still flourishing in my garden.  For some, this is great news.  I happen to love kale in all its forms, and prefer it to almost any other green – I’d forego spinach for kale any day of the week.  For others, though, this is not such a good sign.  For them, […]

Cookbook of the Month – Lucid Food

January 31, 2012 by katieatthekitchendoor

Here I am, January 31st, squeezing in the cookbook of the month post!  It’s been a busy, but good month.  It only seems appropriate that the cookbook of the month be Louisa Shafia’s “Lucid Food: Cooking for an Eco-Conscious Life,” as so many of the recipes from my cleanse (which pretty much consumed the first two weeks of my January) came from it.  In fact, this is probably the single cookbook that I own that I’ve cooked the most recipes from, […]

Fried Chickpeas with Orange-Mint-Yogurt Sauce

January 8, 2012 by katieatthekitchendoor

This is the kind of meal I make all the time, when I don’t feel like cooking for more than 15 minutes but I want something hot, hearty, and wholesome.  I almost always have all of the ingredients on-hand, so it appears frequently on weeknights when I get home late, days before I go to the grocery store, and lazy Sundays when I don’t want to leave bed for too long.  For something which takes so little effort, the flavors […]
