I grew up eating "Herring Under A Fur Coat" at every holiday and completely agree with you on the overload of mayonnaise in the traditional dish. I am excited to see this new take on the recipe and will have to give it a try! My family is not keen on the pickled herring either and have tried a variety of smoked fish in its place with great success. The potato bites sound classy and the mushroom filling in the pirozhki sound like a must. Thank you for sharing!
