I think it does! It's not lemony in a fresh citrus way, like a lemon bar would be, but I find it has the scent and flavor of a lemon baked good. If you're looking for super strong lemon flavor, however, you might not be happy with it.

Does this actually have a lemon flavor? It doesn't look like there's enough lemon extract and that combined with the almond extract makes me hesitate. I am looking for lemon flavor.

Sandra, that's great news - I'm so glad it worked out for you! I wish I could take more credit, but I feel like it's all due to some mysterious housewife 50 years ago. It's so funny how some recipes are just right, even if they seem weird or non-traditional. Yay for ending your search!!

I have been searching for the perfect pound cake for over 5 years now. I make almost every highly rated recipe I find. I saw yours on foodgawker and for some reason the pic seemed to have the consistency I was looking for in a pound cake. I made it today and I have to say that it really is almost perfect. I have been looking for a smooth, dense, and not too spongy pound cake, similar to the smoothness of a Sara Lee (gasp!) pound cake. This recipe is the closest I have ever come, and I have made probably 50+ (probably close to a hundred) different pound cakes. I feel like my search is finally over. I personally love lemon anything, but I will try this again next time with just the vanilla to see if it is like a Sara Lee. Thank you!
