My favorite memory of excellent Mexican food was at a roadside stand in Isla de Mujeres off the coast of Cancun. This woman was cooking half chickens on an old metal mattress that has been turned into a grill set over an oil drum. It was the most delicious chicken I've ever had and a huge plate with rice, salad, chips and salsa cost us something like $2. I wish I could recreate that chicken, I would eat it every night! Thanks for reviewing this book, I've been eyeing it for weeks!

We have a really great locally owned authentic Mexican restaurant that my husband and I frequently eat at. I have loved everything I've ever ordered from there. The owners are friendly, too! I hope to one day get to vacation in Mexico. :)

Throughout my childhood my family went down to playa del carmen for an annual winter trip. We would go out to the town and get street tacos and my parents and older brother would sample the various tequilas of the local bars. Since this was Mexico they didn't kick my underage butt out, but I couldn't quite pass for old enough to drink. Trying to still fit in I would just take the tequila out of the dance but keep the lime and salt. Ever since then I can't get over how delicious that taste combination is, and any food that focuses on that pallet will have no problem going down my belly.

I LOVE Mexican food. I grew up in Southern California and was spoiled by all the amazing restaurants there. My best experience with the food was living in the town with the world famous La Superica Taqueria - the taco shop that Julia Child loved. The food is amazing. The best tequila experience was probably when my husband and I were on a date at a Mexican place here in Vegas and while we were waiting we had drinks at the bar and I had this amazing pineapple margarita and the bartender served us a few samples of different tequilas to try. My husband loved the idea of a flight of sipping tequilas, so much so, that the next day after the date he went to the liquor store and bought a few of the bottles of the kinds we sampled. I love drinking and cooking with it!
