We made this the same day it was posted. For mac-n-cheese it was a little more work than your average homemade but well worth the effort. We cut the sauce ingredients in half which was just fine for the 1 lb of cooked pasta. The topping was delish and the whole thing was fun to make - it is an interesting but great combination of flavors. The bacon, garlic and red pepper with the crumb topping - yum! The apples and the cider vinegar, Ginger, were really nice - my 13 year old son loved the contrast they made with the heavier pasta/sauce combination and helped avoid the "too-rich" problem that usually comes with mac-n-cheese. We'll be making this again as it has probably replaced my old more traditional version. Just one note: the onion should come out of the milk and be discarded after the milk is heated. Great pics Katie!
